As Felix Rodriguez will tell you, Che was spotted in La Paz where he had gone to incite revolution. He was tracked into the jungles of Bolivia where he was captured by Bolivian army in October 1967. His execution was ordered by the head of the Bolivian army. Che knew what was coming; after all, he had ordered the execution of many Cubans ("al paredon") after Fidel defeated Batista. He died without cringing.

I don't have the exact quotes but it went something like as elements of the 2nd Ranger Battalion took his position under fire a few of his comrades were killed and he was wounded.
He was set down by a rock by another of his comrades and continued to fight. He was plugged a few more times and as the troops rushed up to finish him off he shouted something along the lines of "I'm worth more to you alive."
After about a day of being tied up and his wounds not attended to he was shot. There is about three stories as to what really went on for every person who was there. Some of the stories are open source. Some are declassified military documents and others have yet to see the light of day. I was not there so.....Who knows?
His "revolution" failed and he was hunted down like a mad dog.
