You're absolutely right. As a practical matter looting must be stopped. You can't allow it in a society or an emergency. But it's still hard to judge those people. I don't like them. Most of the time I hate them. But I can understand Dion's point of view.

It's one thing to steal food and water, but rape and murder is an entirely different matter.

I honestly don't think it's a point of view; it's more just emoting.

If you can understand her point of view, than to actually live out your philosophy you should pack up all your belongings and send them to NO or the Astrodome and let people pick through them and take what they like.

It's awfully easy to condone people stealing OTHER peoples' stuff. How would you like it if people broke into YOUR home and stole YOUR stuff?

These looters were (and still are, I guess) stealing from stores, banks, ATMS, and private homes. Got it? PRIVATE HOMES. People like you.

That's okay with you? If so, then you are being a complete hypocrite unless you invite them into your house to steal as well.

You name says it all - liberals are the ultimate hypocrites. I bet if someone broke into your house to steal you would call 911. But according to your point of view, you should offer them a couple of large bags to hold the loot.

It isn't hard to judge those people, or anyone for that matter. You do it everyday. "Those" people didn't do what they were supposed to do, which was EVACUATE! If I heard there was a CATAGORY 5 hurricane headed in my direction, and I knew I lived BELOW SEA LEVEL, I'd be on my way out of town before they gave the order. I've lived through some pretty nasty hurricanes because we did the right thing. I've even been through tidal waves, and we didn't head for the beach to watch it when the sirens sounded. I'm feel sad for them that they gambled and lost, but they need to take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, and they aren't.

I'm also angry that they put not only their life but the life of someone else in jeapordy, and then have the balls to complain about it. Then they have the nerve to play the race card! Please!

I don't care if they take food, water, clothing, board games, small toys for the kids, but not jewelry or high end electronics like TVs and DVDs. Wonder if any of them will go back to those stores with offers to help pay or rebuild.
