It's becoming increasingly obvious that some priorities in regards to maintaining infastructure and developing evacuation plans were lacking well before Katrina (more than just one or two US Presidential Administrations).
Unity and leadership shown in NYC during 9-11 does not seem to be present here. Of course more homes/landscape, food/water resources, and people are affected in Katrina, so maybe that's not a fair comparison.
The evacuation planning was definately lacking. There will probably be a "Katrina Commission" in the future... Hindsight is 20/20. Couldn't large military transports been used to evacuate more people both before and immediately after the storm.
The images and stories coming out of the area now are enough to make both men and women cry.
