are any of you watching local WVUE FOX news out of New Orleans? has the "weather girl" been on latley?
the one pictured in the lower left..her name is crystal CLIK HEREshe was a very good friend of mine in college..I assume she stayed becuase she was media and she didn't return my call yet..i am worried sick
She's probably all right. They take precautions. Also, I htink if a newsperson were injured, it would be reported.
Calm down..I figure the TV newsroom/building is one of the safest pplaces..and they will get first attention from authorities becuase they are important to getting information out to the public..Possibly also the phones are all kaput...Shep on FOX said their is no phones..land line or cell working..
yes but my point is if she evacuated like some of the other media(AP pulled alot out) she would of called me by now from a spot way for away from NO
That's what I heard too. The only way to get communications in or out of the devastated areas is by Ham Radio, and the Ham Radio service has a "Hurricane Net" set up for that purpose, for passing health and welfare messages in and out of there.
yes i'm assuming shes ok...but I thought i would use the power of freerepublic to confirm...crazy idea i just got off the top of my head
Ham is the only reliable comm at this point. It's times like this when I wish I still had my HF rig. I could pass traffic from New Orleans to anyone who has family in my area.
I checked into the net to let them know I'm listening, but I've been mostly lurking on the Hurricane Net frequency most of the day today.
I'll pray for Crystal. I was watching her reports as I planned to leave.
thank you..got to go...i will check this thread later
