Group Haikus are FUN!!!!!!!

we have to do this more often!

Haiku
Japanese syllable-based three line poem
with syllable counts: 5 / 7 / 5
(or 3 / 5 / 3 for a more 'oriental' feel to the poem)
A reference to nature is expected. This a form that is wonderful for metaphorical descriptions.

Another one that is fun is the Tanka

Tanka
Japanese syllable-based five line poem with syllable counts: 5 / 7 / 5 / 7 / 7. One can write the 5/7/5 portion and another the 7/7 portion, as long as the first and second portions themes match. You could write the 5/7/5, and the 7/7, followed by a 5/7/5 and then another 7/7... I think its called a Renga
