At work I have a laptop and a desktop, with 4 monitors, that way I can check the database on one screen while working on the code with another.  I am currently doing .Net Remoting and the 2 PCs allow me to debug both the client and the server applications at the same time.

I mean with virtual desktops and xterms you could still do all this stuff even in the old days just but today's methods make me more efficient I think. Only drawbacks are getting lost in the desktops within desktops or not being able to cut and paste across physical machines!
