Thank you for rescuing the thread!

My yogurt turned out much better this time. Still a bit runny, but it is tart and yummy. Hurray! Proper food.

I don't know of one store-bought yogurt that doesn't have some sort of thickener...except Dannon Natural, and I really suspect they filter theirs to make it thick...it just has the filtered consistency.

You can filter yours too...just line a big sieve with coffee filters, dump the yogurt in on top and suspend it over a bowl over night in the fridge. A lot of the whey will filter out and collect in the bowl and the yogurt won't be so runny. Of course the whey is very good for you and you can use it in cooking stuff like pancakes and such.

Personally, I have learned to love the runnier texture...you know I tried adding instant milk to mine and that does make a thicker product but I thought it had too much of a "milk" flavor as aposed to a clean yogurt flavor.
