My grandmother got the kids a nifty little combination record player, CD player, and tape deck. It's nothing fancy, but works really well - and a lot of the stuff we like was never released on CD, so it's handy. ;-) There are also a couple of local stores that sell used records for not much more than a buck or so apiece, except for really collectable ones.
I'd like one of those little players eventually. I don't think it was that pricey, even.
According to the Katarina thread, the feds have taken over the evacuation proceedings. It seems like LA's airhead Dim governor hasn't got a clue.
Heh...judging from the comments on the live thread, I'd kind of gathered she was so worried about inducing panic that she was all but discounting the whole thing. Duh.
With all the reports coming in, I think it's time they panicked.

It'd be really sad, seriously, if this ended up being horrible and she went down in history as the cause of people dying due to not getting out in time.
