Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Unless the vehicle is wayyy back and we've got a forced perspective thing goin' on. Nope, it's a silly big tent. It sleeps more people (8) than could ever fit in the Jeep (5)!
To: RosieCotton
Let's see, sis.
Wouldn't it be terrific if we ended up in the same company, albeit several states apart? ;-D

It'd be interesting, wouldn't it? And who knows...there might be some visiting or correspondence. Ya never know.

Dunno how Sadie feels about it, but it's sweet. It is sweet. She was really patient with the knucklehead. At home she gets grouchy with him and chews him out if he runs in the house or something terrible like that. :)
I wish we had some video of Jack and the acorns. He'd go rooting around till he found one and then start chewing on it - all while darting his eyes about to see if we were watching. When we'd catch him, he'd get a stern "NO!" and he'd spit it out... on the ground.... right in front of his nose.... where it'd be nice and handy... just in case he could sneak it in his mouth again. The acorn spitting was so cute! It reminded me of Gollum's "Don't want fish!" scene. Jack must have eaten 2 or 3 for every one we made him spit out. The boy's tummy is *still* reeling. LOL. Knucklehead.

That's right. Ya never know!

I tease him incessantly about that silly tent... which we've had for *years* and have never used. ;)
He's a good sport about the teasing. He really likes that he can stand up in the dumb thing.

She was a trooper though. When you think about how old she is in people years, I hope I'm still camping when I'm her age! (She's 12.)

Yeah...being able to stand up would be nice. Especially over a full weekend. Gets pretty old having to crawl anytime you need something outta the tent...especially as I always manage to leave whatever-it-is at the very back of the tent.

Heh...having known as many dogs as I have, I can totally picture his face when he had an acorn.
Hope his tummy troubles work out soon. ;-)

To: HairOfTheDog; Lil'freeper
Thank you! I LOVE the tent! I spent 20 years in the Army and had my allocation of opportunities to practice being miserable, so I do not mind taking "comfortable" with me when I go sleeping in the woods. Now if they would just come with air conditioning and running water....

I'm sure if they made a 12-volt air conditioning unit with a car adapter you'd buy one! :P
To: Lil'freeper
hehehehe...
At that point, skip the tent and buy a small RV or a pop-up camper.

We've discussed the pop-up. I'd find it mortifying. We don't camp enough to justify it, really.
