There's an inner city sickness in this country that really needs fixed.

No doubt about it.

And I don't want anyone getting hurt when all they're trying to do is help.

It's a mess.

Good night, hon.

The frustrating thing is...it's the looters that are being broadcast to the world. Not the heros and the innocent. I'm afraid they are what people are going to think of as "typical Americans" - them and the government who didn't get people out in time, though I don't believe it was really possible to get people out, especially as so many didn't believe it would really be that bad.

Apparently there are some NGs from Louisiana who are rotating back home from Baghdad next week. I think they out to send those guys into NO after these scum. I think some justice would likely be meted out because these guys coming home will be thinking, "none of this crap in MY state"!

Yah. Its frustrating because I just know... I *know* that there are some stories of selflessness and heroism happening every day-- every hour-- there.

It's like the coverage of Iraq... the bad news sells better that the good news.

Roger that. I feel bad for any of them that would have to go right back into duty getting back... but yah... they're not gonna be "soft" about things.

Git'er done... :-)

I lost the wireless connection just after I posted today. I powered down during lunch 'cause I forgot my power cord. When I booted back up, still said the connection was strong, but it sent me to page requiring a password. Go figger. I guess the libs caught me on FR...

Jr. had a football scrimmage tonite.

I stopped on the way home and put $70.00 worth of gas in the truck...($3.19)...

PE and I were astonished that the superdome was even considered as an evac shelter. We immediately saw that it was a death trap. Then we saw who was standing in line to get in, and it dawn on us what we were dealing with. These are the people who refused to evacuate and then found themselves stranded.

The problem with the airdrop issue was that the helicopter was getting shot at by looters/gang types. Heartbreaking, yes, and infuriating.

Disaster planning also depends on... and I mean *depends* on... active participation and self-help and cooperation of the able-bodied people that are involved. Filling sand bags. Improvising shelters. Ferrying and passing supplies. Helping the infirm. In short... being part of the solution.

I have not seen *any* self-help or cooperation going on in the New Orleans situation. I have seen a lot of it in MS though. As far as New Orleans, I have only seen selfish people in feeling sorry for themselves and not willing to help their neighbors. It's disgusting.

DHCP TTL (time-to-live) expired. Did you try your password again?

I didn't have a password. It was an open connection when I first booted up. It didn't ask me for a password until the second time.

that's goofy. Are you sure you were connecting to the same access point? Maybe it was somebody else's. Most wifi cards by default will try to connect to the strongest signal, instead of maybe the one you'd want at the moment.

LOL, I just love your comments. I am absolutely sure you are correct.

I'll bet there are some NG troops out there praying that they get deployed to Baghdad instead of New Orleans.

These are the people who refused to evacuate and then found themselves stranded.

To be fair, many of the people trying to get into the Superdome on Sunday were unable to leave the city for various reasons: no vehicle, no money to rent a vehicle (not that any were available by that time anyway) too old and/or sick to travel, etc.

yeah, as I reread that I find it a little strong. A lot of people needed somewhere to go as they could not evacuate, however, there weer many of those in the superdome who were not helpless or incapable, and could have helped themselves. Now they can't and are relying solely on help from other's.

Somehow people must be made to understand that they can help themselves, and that even in the face of death, they can come together and overcome things like this. People apparently cannot think for themselves or work together to help each other down there. Our society has created a bunch of dependency cases. It is more widespread than I ever imagined.

I just want to collectively slap them and say "Snap out of it and get a grip! YOU are the adult, and YOU have to take care of YOUR family/neighbors. What are YOU going to do to ensure THEIR health and safety?"
