Cars competing in a rally from London to Sydney arrive in Iran on Thursday, 24th of August.
14 old cars driving from London to Sydney in a friendly rally competition arrive in Iran on Thursday, staying within Iranian borders for 9 days.
The rally started from London, England, on 14th of August 2005 and will end in Sydney, Australia on 16th of November 2005 with old automobiles produced since 1914. Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, China, Thailand, and Singapore are countries passed through, and the cars will be transferred to Sydney Port on ship from Singapore.
According to the Motorcycle and Automobile Federation of Iran, who has helped the group with visa, accommodations, insurance, permissions for use of rally equipment such as GPS systems, and escorts through Iran, the cars enter the country on Thursday 24th of August from the western border of Bazargan, pass through numerous cities and provinces including Tabriz, Hamedan, Isfahan, Shiraz, Kerman, and Sistan-va-Baluchistan, and then go to Pakistan.
The drivers deliver a message of peace and friendship everywhere they go and visit the historical, religious, and natural attractions of each country they pass through.
