I thought Zimpher and her Legal Counsel (Who BTW is not licensed to practice Law in Ohio) showed an utter lack of class in how they handled this matter. They actually released the letter sent to Huggins's attorney to the public, including very detailed contract proposals. Not only is that completely improper, but utterly foolish -- what future coach would want to work for such a person? Then again, she has three degrees from Ohio State, so how smart can she be?

I've been reading comments on this over at Cincinnati.com. One that I rather enjoyed was by a UK fan who hates Huggins, who said that Zimpher has succeeded in making Huggs the sympathetic figure. That UK fan is right. People have bashed Huggs in the past for (perceived) a lack of class, but how classless is Zimpher being?

She's having a Press Conference at Six. That should be priceless. She's got all the PR skills of Bill Belichick when he coached the Cleveland Browns.

Also, how bad is it when a UK Fan is smarter than a University President?

I can pick up WLW in my car. Hopefully, they'll be carrying her press conference (I live in southern KY).

That Big East event on Fountain Square a few weeks ago, where Huggs wasn't invited, was quite telling...

I saw the conference and she looked like a spoiled petulant brat!

A 24-hour ultimatum while Huggins is out of town at a coaching clinic. What a low-class thing to do. She's a disgrace.

I did as well, any sympathy I had for her as the first female president of the U of C making a tough decision was gone instantly. She kept referring to this 'vision thing' problem is her timeing and implementation was incredibly wrong ... Huggins may be gone ... rest assured this time next year she's history as well ... guaranteed.

Local television this evening carried her press conference. This was brought about by the huge local outcry that Huggins was railroaded ... the Prez of the U of C didn't expect to have to respond until tomorrow ... after Huggins resigned (presumedly). Bottom line ... this women is in deep du-du ... Huggins may be gone ... but she follows soon after.

At one time, he had a zero graduation rate and that was just a few years ago.

That statistic (as provided from the NCAA) isn't always an accurate measure. It doesn't include transfers (in or out) or junior college players. Cincinnati always seemed to have a lot of both. One example is Anthony Buford. He transferred to Cincinnati after Huggins got the job, graduated, and did not count toward the graduation rate.

IMO, I think Huggins is okay, but certainly not great. I was on the fence when he got his DUI but leaned towards letting him go. However, I think the university picked a bad time to get rid of him.

You run a calcutta by shares and not "high bid takes all"? How does that work? Top 10 bidders split according to percentage of total or something? Sounds interesting.

No high bid takes it, but sometimes we pool our money. Our calcutta grossed over $55,000 with 90% payout. If you won one game you got something back. Payouts ranged from .5% to 25% of the payout pool. All for charity.

Did you see Nancy Zimpher at the press conference last night? I could have sworn I was watching and listening to Hillary Clinton!! She has that same condescending look and the same tone in her voice -- "I know better than you what this university needs." What a beotch!

So it wasn't just me who thought Zimpher sounded like Hillary!

Regardless of what one thinks of Bob Huggins, or "higher standards", Nancy Zimpher was a complete turn off, and that news conference (or, should I say brainwashing promo), was very unprofessional. She acted like a cheap politican, or a freshman cheer leader. Aim for higher standards if one wishes (who can argue with that, if it is the only part of the equation?), but insulting arrogant performances like that one turn me off! "Oh! I am as pure as the driven snow, and you people are just too stupid to realize it!"

Thanks, LRS! Huggins isn't perfect (who is?), but he sure didn't deserve this! Ol' Nancy Rodham Zimpher is really cleaning house at UC -- she's gotten rid of the deans of medicine, engineering, business and law. She replaced the law dean with a guy from the ACLU! Now, that shows you what direction she wants to take the university! As I have heard others say, she will run UC into the ground, and then leave. Can anyone say "power trip"??

To make matters worse, I heard last night that the letter was released to the press before Huggins or his representative received it.

I haven't heard yet what Huggs decision was (it was due about 20 minutes ago.) However, if it was me, I would resign, and take the $3 million option, and promptly donate $1 million to a special basketball scholarship fund for needy kids...

I heard that, too. Shameful. I was listening to Bill Cunningham on my lunch hour today, and he or one of his guests said that if Huggins stays, that martinet Zimpher wants him to "work to promote UC"! Can you believe her unmitigated gall?
