I sat down with a bunch of GI's at WSMR recently, and we argued over every detail in "we were soldiers." I lost, BTW - I thought that they had done it badly. So the consensus was, I would go watch it again, and report back. They did it exactly right, and I had to eat crow - nothing new, there. BGN Moore lives about a mile from my house, and I am a paratrooper - so, I wanted it done right. LOL/
My girlfriend's dad (soon to be my father in law) flew supplies in and wounded out of that valley even after he had been wounded himself. He passed out from loss of blood while being resupplied at the controls of his Huey. No one except he knew he had even been hit. The movie "We Were Soldiers" did great credit to men like him who laid it all on the line for their fellow troops those days.
