Harris's character overhears two NASA bigwigs talking about how Apollo 13 will be the the biggest disaster NASA's ever faced. Harris reprimanded them, and said that he believed it would be NASA's finest hour. The character's (certainly, not the actor's) don't quit attitude was a high point in American movie patriotism to me. That was Gene Kranz that Harris portrayed to a darned-near T. Kranz wasn't just a fine American; he was a damned fine American. One of the best.

Remembered Gene, but I couldn't put Kranz with it for some reason.

A story about Gene Kranz. He loved John Phillip Sousa. When he was driving to work, he'd put in a eight track of Sousa marches to get him psyched up for the job at hand. Now, he can do the same thing with cds.
