Best Flag Waving, Patriotic Movie (Pure Vanity)

What are the most patriotic, flag waving movies?

I really like watching movies in which there are acts of patriotism and heroism. I lap them up. I have a few favorites. Among them are:

"Starship Troopers." While it is not a great work of cinema, it does have a lot of flag waving patriotism in it even though the characters are not American. There are scenes of heroism galore. My favorite scene is when the Mobile Infantry Platoon is being overrun at an outpost and brave Fleet pilots risk their lives to get them out.

"Arrmegedon" There are a lot of heros in this one. The scene with the the doomed astronauts boarding the Shuttles as the President delivers a speech on what must be done. There are flags, jets on a fly by. Always leaves a lump in my throat.

"The Postman." Not a great movie, but a very patriotic one.

I liked "Patton" too and though I'm not sure this fits the category, I love "Glory" - a time when men had a real sense of honor and duty, whichever side they fought for! Makes me proud to see our fighting men and women still have a bit of that today!

The Patriot is still pretty hard to beat.

Liberals still have hissy fits and chit their pants every time they see those kids shooting the Brits-God I love it when the libs do that!

Won't say it's the most patriotic movie overall, but one of the most patriotic SCENES, in my opinion, was in Apollo 13, when Ed Harris's character overhears two NASA bigwigs talking about how Apollo 13 will be the the biggest disaster NASA's ever faced. Harris reprimanded them, and said that he believed it would be NASA's finest hour. The character's (certainly, not the actor's) don't quit attitude was a high point in American movie patriotism to me.

Just watched Independence Day over this past weekend and always thought it had a patriotic feel.

"The Crossing" with Jeff Daniels, relates some of the events of General George Washington's famous Crossing of the Delaware River and the Battle of Trenton, NJ in December 1776.

"The Patriot" with Mel Gibson, kind of plays fast and loose with some historical facts but does give an interesting perspective on life during the American Revolution.

"Glory" with Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman, somewhat accurate story of the 54th Massachusetts (Colored) Infantry Regiment during the Civil War, climaxing in their infamous assault of Battery Wagner at Charleston Harbor in 1864.

"Gettysburg" with Jeff Daniels, Martin Sheen and Tom Berringer, based on the novel "Killer Angels", it is a Hollywood version of history but still very interesting in that it tackles the battle from the perspective of both the North and the South. Alot of historical innacuracies, Sheen as R.E. Lee sucks and Berringer's "Longstreet beard" looks like a dead squirrel but it still has some awesome footage and story line.

"God's & Generals", the prelude to Gettysburg, not as good but better casting. Still worth watching.

The category is "Best Flag Waving, Patriotic Movies." Patton typified a true, flag-waving patriot in my book. He was an unabashed, unapologetic ass-kicker who made his hatred of our enemies as plain as his love for America and freedom. That was what made this nation great.

Now we've been reduced to Milquetoasts who are more concered about offending the Islamofascist enemy than winning the damned war.

Actually, I just watched 'National Treasure', and i thought Nick Cage's character's sense of honor in defending the Declaration of Independence was pretty cool.
