It occurred to me when I learned that Dickey Betts' son is named "Duane," that there must have been something special between the two.
"Skippers Smokehouse"Smokin the blues.Saw Derek too. Were you there for Savoy Brown?Chris Duarte?
Not Savoy. Believe it or not, not sure about duarte. there was a guy who used to do an act called "Double Threat," a tribute to SRV which was actually pretty good. Was that him?
I've seen Delbert McClinton and Sammy Moore there (I used to work there).
You used to work there? My gfriend did too(early 80's).I was a sunday regular bk in the 80's.Remember Eddie Kirkland? My first intro to the blues.Hooked ever since.Chris Duarte(aka The Chris Duarte Group),"Texas Sugar/Strat Magic".Great guitarist, mix of blues, rock,w a little jazz thrown in.Kind of a SRV sound at times.I've heard of Double Threat, but haven't them.Correction, saw DTrucks at Frankies Patio in Ybor.
I was a bit more into the Richard Gilewitz/John Fahey Jorma Kaukonen thing as I was a student of Classical guitar at the time.
I was also not one of the many deadheads that worked there. The Jorma show at the Friday Morning Musicale in Hyde Park was pretty good, though. God, those were the days.
"Eddie Kirkland,i didn't like the way he leered at the girls there."Yep that's Eddie alright. The general consesus was he was kinda "creepy".Thurs evenings are Greatful Dead Night.Hippies galore!
I was there when the Challenger blew up.
at that time, we had, let's see... vicki (of course), bonnie (of course), whit, nancy, fryin brian, dick, mike (consummate deadhead and about the coolest guy I ever met), a girl with black hair and green-blue eyes that I'm sorry I never pursued, and another girl, a bit older, who's name I can't remember. I had the nickname of "smokehouse willie." lol.
