Eddie Murray's probably responsible for his own underappreciation, or at least was during his tenure with Los Angeles.

You'd have to search far and wide to find a more sullen-appearing and silent ballplayer.

As a Detroiter, Al Kaline is the hero. In his last year playing for the Tigers, he refused to sign a contract with them for over 100K. He said 'No player is worth a hundred grand to play ball'. He signed for 99,900. The current players make that in 2 games.
