Somedays you sits, and some days you sits and thinks.

Thinking about the future of news I see many of the current purveyors of "news" putting themselves out of business rather than evolving. They don't make any money from me or any of the rest of you freepers, their subscriptions are declining and they won't deal in truth. In my opinion, we have bounced from many local news sources to centralized controlled news and back thoughout history.

The question then is what will replace them and how does anyone make any money doing it. How do you improve the quality (truth) of the news? If many of the current sources go out of business, what will we have to react to here at FR? Is it time to start a new organization to do what AP did? It at one time had high standards for truth.

Anyway, I thought this article on the history of the AP was interesting.

Here is some history from AP. Interesting point that the AP reporters account of Lincoln's Gettysburg address is our most reliable account.
