We all know how PETA treats these family members. They kill them and toss them in dumpsters.

As usual, peta takes a rare incident of animal abuse and accuses all dog owners of the same.

PETA are terrorists, and should be treated as such. They are animal abuser's, and should be charged as such. They are NOT a charitable organization, and should be taxed accordingly.

A lethal dose and a dumpster make better kennels according to PETA

But of course. It's much more compassionate to have your dog smashed in the middle of the road. Fences are mean too. /s

Maybe an ordinance to ban chaining cats?

The dogs are now recovering in the care of their rescuers and have since been named Pablo and Precious.

And if they'd been "rescued" by PETA employees, they'd be rotting in a dumpster right now.

If I were to beat the crap out of a PETA-phile, do you think a jury would convict me?

So! If you can't afford a fence, you can't have a dog.

Not all dogs are left on chains day and night; Most are put out for fresh air and sunshine, for limited periods, while their owners are at work.

If it was a jury from the left coast, with a liberal judge instructing them, yes.
It would be best to keep your mujahedeen mask on. If you don't have one, borrow one from anti war demonstator.

Sadly,
in this neck o' the woods,
If you see a dog on a chain, odds are, that is is whole life.

And he probably never gets let off of it either.

If you see a pit, rottie or dobie on a chain, odds are even greater he's getting even worse treatment. But that is just my cultural observations from conversations.

Owners??? Off to indoctrination camp with you! They're "animal guardians" now (or some such nonsense.)

In this neck of the woods, you never see dogs on a chain, although there is supposed to be a fine if your dog is found wandering around off it.

It appears you are assuming that these dogs never get off it, do you camp outside these homes to see?

How does a Rottie, or Dobie on a chain automaticaly mean they are being abused in your mind?

What does this have to do with ones culture?

I wonder what that would do to leash laws.

PETA should be chained up.

A. I've yet to meet anyone who keeps a dog on a chain (around here) that takes it off for any length of time. And it was like that when I was growing up. I've got a boss, 3 coworkers and a couple of relatives that all keep their dogs chained outside 24/7 and they see nothing wrong with it. They are guard dogs and a way to look 'tough'.

We recently had a man in the news here who had over 30 pits chained outside, with little to no shelter, drinking out of hubcaps and getting fed sporatically (and he saw nothing wrong with it).

While lots of folks were horrified, there were just as many who were like "what's the problem?".

B. No, I don't camp outside to see, but again, you're the very first person I've ever heard to say the opposite. Yes, its a cultural thing around here--- a combination of 'its just a dog, God sez its OK, I've gotta look tough, I need a guard'. Even those with fenced in yards will keep their dog chained to keep it from jumping on them, digging where they don't want them to etc.

C. Erm, dog fights are real popular around here. Plus gangs and drugs. So there is a lot of macho posturing that goes with having a mean dog of a specific breed. The bigger and meaner the better.

Again, maybe I'm just real cynical ;)
