Washington: Women who send flirtatious emails, wear short skirts or massage a man's shoulders at the workplace win fewer pay raises and promotions, according to a new study.
The study, conducted among MBA graduates by Tulane University, showed that half the respondents have sometimes engaged in some sexual behaviours to advance in their careers.
This includes crossing legs provocatively or leaning over a table to let men look down their shirts, it said.
But, interestingly, those women who said they have never engaged in sexual activities have earned an average of three promotions against two for the group that had employed sexuality, the study showed.
Those who said they never used sexuality at a workplace were, on an average, earning $75,000-$100,000 per annum, while the other half fell in the next-lowest range, $50,000 to $75,000.
The women in the study, the first of its kind, ranged in the age of mid-20 to 60 years, the 'USA Today' reported.
It was an attempt to make plain the negative consequences of such behaviour, the report said.
Academic experts have so far not studied the use of sexual behaviour in the work place.
After searching managerial literature, Tulane professor Arthur Brief found no evidence showing such behaviour to be effective or ineffective.
The Tulane study's findings are statistically significant to professional women looking for career advancement, Brief said.
Brief said the study goes so far as to suggest that women should even be careful about letting men open doors, because chivalry is "benevolent sexism" that advances the stereotype that women are vulnerable and weak.
That does it, I can't resist- you know... hunting is a man kinda thing... you sure you're not a ... ?

So many possible responses . . .
Yeh, she's definately a head turner- we need more conservatives like her in this world, many, many more.
Quiet. She's too damn cocky already (no pun teeny)
Oh, gee, thanks.
Oy! A bona fide thread killing photo!!!
"I guess this study would explain the rapid rise and advancement of this beauty through the "ranks":"
Now that's just not right. (Like the tag line though.)
You know I'm always there with a generous compliment for ya! ;o)
I'm going hire the NYTimes to look into your sealed sex-change operation papers a la Justice nominee Roberts, so ya better watch out!
WHAT!!! Pissant, what are you doing on one of these "R" rated threads? I'm shocked, SCHOCKED, I tell you
I'd tell ya to stick to football, but I'm thinking you don't know much about that either! LOL
James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal pointed out the obvious omission from this study. It does not mention anything about the age of the women. Older women are likely to make more money than younger women, and younger women are more likely to flirt. I didn't believe this hooey from the beginning, knew there had to be a catch.
