Sawx have 49 left, Yankees 50, including 6 games head to head.
Assume the teams split the six, and the Sawx play at the same % now .580, as they have through the season..all pretty reasonable, right?
That gives the Red Sox 94 wins..and to TIE, the Yankes would have to go 31-13 in their remaining games..NO WAY..not witht hat rotation..Nope..it's over..
We have a tougher schedule the rest of the way than the Yanks (opponent winning percentage), but it's mitigated by the fact that we play most of those teams in Fenway.
This ChiSox series worked out for us, with Arroyo and Miller (who's now on the DL)-- who are our most erratic pitchers-- out of the series. We have Wells, Wakefield and Clement and a sweep would not be surprising at all.
We have to go on the road against Detroit and the Angels for 7 games. Those are key. If we can take care of business in those 7 games, we will be really set up to win the division.
Oh, and Scott Proctor won't last 2 innings tonight. Against that Rangers offense. They are for real. The Yanks will score, too, of course, but I think the Rangers bp is better than the Yanks (except for closer).
