On which basis? Cy Young is not an ERA title.

Yeah, I saw that logic used years ago to throw away the Cy Young at some spare San Diego reliever in a year in which Nolan Ryan led the league in ERA and strikouts at age 40 but got zilch run support and thus had a so-so record. Was so bad he lost a 1-hit game and a 3-hit game (or was the latter a 2-hitter that year?) In fact there were several years where the idiot writers would hold lack of run support and win record against Ryan. Completely ludicrous that one of the 10 greatest pitchers of all time never was awarded a single Cy Young, despite earning one several times.

Loyalty trumps reason, I guess. :)

The motto of all true FANS.

How many years did I have to live through the Cardiac Cardinals Football fiascos, only to lose them to Arizona (man was I pissed), become a Chiefs fan, get the Rams and support them through the first inept years.

Eventually the rewards come... unless you are a Cubs fan.

Cashman is fine as a GM. George is the real problem for that team.

Those factors are not factors. Carp has 4 shutouts.

Check this article out about Millar.

Yeah yeah, yet another writer blowing hot air.

Like I said, Millar's a streaky hitter who's having a little down year, and he's been left for dead before.

2005: pre-ASB 4 HR, post-ASB ??
2004: pre-All Star Break 5 HR, post-ASB 13 HR
2003: pre-ASB 14 HR, post-ASB 11 HR
2002: pre-ASB 5 HR, post-ASB 11 HR

It should be fairly clear that Millar, a 33-year-old, peaked back in 2001 with the Marlins when he was a youthful 29. But the same idiots were calling for Millar's head last year before he put up a big second half, they were screaming at Francona for playing Bellhorn when he was 0-for-the-world in the playoffs last year (until he started jacking HRs).

If the voting were logical, Pujols would already have two MVP's.

No argument..the Braves front odfice AND the coaches have done a great job..but can all the youngsters hang tough in a tight stretch drive?

I'd still prefer Mueller right now. Plus, Youk has yet to prove that he can play every day in the big leagues. In time he will probably be fine.

Good morning..with respect, you're in error on most of your poijnts..to wit:

Most Yankee fans are front runners. Just listen to NY sports radio..

When it costs $200+ to take a family of four to a game at Yankee Stadium..there is something wrong..

Baseball needs a salary cap, badly..When ONE team overpays wildly, all it does is raise the market for other players. The number of good players is finite. the unchecked free-agency system works against the teams..the fans..only for the players...Look at KC losing Beltran..In NY, theyr'e already speculating when the Yankees can get the Pirate's pitching phenom...

Ask yourself this..Put a $100mil salary cap in for next season, and immediate lower EVERY ticket price in Yankee stadium by $25. Think the fans wouldn't love it..and every dollar would stay in the fans' pocket, and NOT go to the players..

Sorry, didn't go back far enuff in my pings to find it.

SCALEMAN...you wanna do the thread next week?

Two reasons... I don't really have the time... I usually ignore the American League until late August, so most of the AL talk is white noise to me.

Our banged up Birds are on fire...each player exceeding expectations.

Did you see Mabry the other night, Eckstein yesterday, Edmonds everyday.

Nunez playing well in multiple positions.

BTW, Carpenter is the real deal...Cy Young award winner this year, no doubt.
