Denver Public Library Stocks Spanish Language Violent Pornographic Novellas

I can't really even summarize this one very well, it's so outrageous. Check the link for yet another example of the continuing downward slide occurring in Denver as our current administration attempts to placate the forces of multiculturalism and political correctness.

Make sure to follow the external links regarding this topic on the KHOW website for the most complete information.

Do you mean novelas, the South American soap opera series? And how is this different from their having R-rated films in any language on the shelf?

Sorry, I may have put in an extra "L" by mistake. I am not sure if these are the same thing, but listening to the descriptions today by those who researched this, they said that these "books" are rife with sexual violence, including such things as a 20-page or so sequence in which a woman is slapped, beaten, raped, and finally stabbed to death. Also depicted were such things as cutting off nipples, general sadomasochism, etc.

This is grossly wrong on so many levels it makes the head spin. For one thing, our library system in Denver is supposedly in such a budgetary crisis that they must close branches on Wednesdays, yet they can afford the reported $5.00 per copy (and there were HUNDREDS of these at various branches) to purchase this worthless garbage, and in SPANISH, yet.

By the way, I should have made it clearer that these are not novels or something, but are more akin to comic books, except with very graphic ILLUSTRATIONS and relatively little text. If you follow the link, you will find a number of photographs of these items taken by those who investigated this and broke the story.

I see, books. I was confused because in English, "novellas" mean "short novels, generally under 110 pages," with no implication as to the content.

You seem to be describing something like the porn "comic" books that are so popular in Japan. Gross.

This is not the worst library I've seen: http://www.denver.lib.co.us/about/internet.html. Perhaps they will do the right thing.
