Best and Worst of the 1960s (vanity)
Tacoma PA Press | 8/2/05 | Dr. Pissant

Well Freepers, we've analyzed the 1970s and the 1980s. Both decades had their highs and lows. Now we must dive into the decade that created the heady mix in our culture that lead to the pathetic 1970s and the resurgent 1980s. Although many freepers were not yet born, enough about the 1960s was captured on video and audio that everyone will have an opinion.

But I begin with the facts:

WORST OF THE 1960s

5. John Kennedy's Assisination: Though no hero to conservatives, JFKs death marked the end of the patriotic democrat party, and ushered in an era of appeasement, socialism, and self-loathing that infests the Democrats to this very day.

4. Twiggy: The supermodel that made emaciated skeletons fashionable. Yuck

3. Hippies: The country was infested with spoiled rich kids rebelling against the country that saved the planet in 2 world wars and created prosperity and progress through the blood, sweat and tears of our ancestors. Take a bath already!

2. The Afro: Nothing said Black Power AND I'm a freakin idiot quite like a supersized afro. When the lovely gals in the Supremes switched from pretty hair to afros, we knew the gig was up!

1. Drugs: Goes hand in hand with the hippies. Nothing like a good acid trip to make one see reality more clearly. Unfortunately, mass suicides did not come into play until Jim Jones got the ball rolling in the 1970s.

BEST OF THE 1960s

5. Barry Goldwater: Finally, a politician who recognized that the drift leftward in our country was unsustainable and needed to be killed like Dracula. Unfortunately, his message was ignored by too many. Fortunately, Ronald Reagan did not!

4. Bob Dylan: Despite often being credited for starting the hippie and anti-war movements, Mr. Zimmerman had no interest in that crap. As soon as he saw the anti-amercanism swirling around him, he sidestepped it all and created the best body of songs of the decade.

3. Televison: Yes, I know, there was lotsa garbage then too. But a decade that could create The Wild, Wild West, Gunsmoke, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Bewitched, and Daniel Boone indicates a level of talent and creativity that has not been repeated since.

2. Auto Industry: The American auto industry created the greatest variety, the hottest styles, and the strongest engines at this time. Muscle cars, sedans and the ubiquitous station wagon, all reached their pinnacle during this time!

1. James Bond & Emma Peel: These two British imports are considered gems to this day. Connery as the studly 007 was patriotism & heroism personified. And Emma (Diana Rigg) made many a gap toothed kid discover what it meant to be male!

If you're going to mention Twiggy, you have to mention Tiny Tim. And I don't mean Dickens's Tiny Tim.

That's the one. Thanks for the compliment, I'll pass it on. She is by far the most intelligent, beautiful, loving woman that ever allowed me to darken her doorstep.

Substitute the Stones for the Beatles, and I'm with ya!

ANd Vietnam, despite the modern myths, was a noble effort, screwed royally by our worthless politicians!
