MY NEW PET PEEVE

Posted on 08/02/2005 10:36:12 AM PDT by redlocks322

I just spent my lunch hour at the grocery store. I was so ticked off by the time I left, I had sweat rolling down my face.

First of all, (and I'm not knocking stay at home mom's) but is the noon hour the ONLY hour in the day that they can schedule hauling their screaming bawling children to the grocery store???? I mean come on... those of us who work 50 hours a week use our lunch hour to get things done, not to tango in the isle trying to get around a passle of "play group" kids on a field trip!

To top it all of... after my $260 worth of groceries, there was no one left to sack them for all the "mommy groups" so I sacked them myself and had to carry them out myself, all so I can get back to work and fume over it.

I think there should be a law against people who don't work to stay out of the grocery store from 11am to 1pm during the week and let us workers have the opportunity to get our stuff done.

Anyway, done venting... like I said I have nothing against stay at home moms as long as they stay at home during the lunch time hours.

I don't think I will tell them about your stories.......

:) Their fathers favorite words to them:

"Boys don't tell your mother because she loves you and would kill me but ....(fill in with anything crazy a father teaches his sons)

Reminds me of Jeff Foxworthy talking about some of the things his Dad said..

"Let him pull the TV on his head a few times; he'll learn."

"Hey, see them holes in the wall over there...go stick this pin in there. Hurts don't it? Don't do that no more."

But I suppose little kids would be excited to go ANYWHERE with their class.

Bingo!

But, you gotta figure, even mundane businesses have some behind the scenes activities that our children should see.

I was quoting from her post...

They have been running down here at Colonial Downs. I see a lot of the same guys from Pimlico and Laurel down here, they live in Motels here in Williamsburg...

Any big winners lately?

Good day Saturday, equally bad day Sunday, took last two days off.

Must get to Colonial. I hear it's a beautiful track.

p.s. If you think working 50 hours a week is a lot, it's a good thing you're not a stay at home mom

THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT

Perhaps she works nights and that was the only time it was convenient for her to shop for her kids' meals.

In any case...GROW UP! and realize you are not as important as you'd like to think.

I would love to see you do my job (stay-at-home mom). I never sleep more than 3 hours at a stretch, do laundry all day, shop, cook, as well as care for and raise our 7 boys (4 adopted, 3 autistic, one fetal alcohol syndrome) and maintain our home. I sure am thankful my husband doesn't have your attititude - he seems to think raising our kids is the most important job i could have right now. He is great with the kids, but even he says he couldn't take care of them all day, every day, especially the autistic twins.

wanna trade???

My kids are grown, but my wife stayed home with them. I currently coach my grandson's basketball team, so I see all kinds of families. I've noticed that if a mother stays home today it generally means that the dad is working a stressful job with a lot of hours (like a physician or attorney) or he works a lot of overtime (like a cop or fireman). Either way, it means dad's just not there to help out the way he was 30 years ago. Being a full time mother was never an easy job, but the demands on the position, coupled with today's lack of respect for the role makes it a tougher job than ever.
