If this is true, then this guy is one Major League Idiot..
Wow! Adios, Cooperstown!
Cool. Sosa will be next. Let's see the corrupt lawyer Havana Pete Angelos (Asbestos Man) spin this one to defend them.
Proof that Jose Canseco was right after all. Amazing, not libel suit against him. Now we know why.
OH, NO---Here in the D/FW area, that is gonna be bad news...Palmeiro lives here and his wife is very involved around here...
Even though he got his record elsewhere, we still consider him a Ranger...
Just Damn!
I can't find this on their website. Can you provide some kind of link?
IDIOT! GOSH!
I'm not an O's fan, but this really is a sad day for baseball. That said, the fact that he lied to Congress as well will probably cost him a Hall call.
If this is true, then he's also guilty of perjury because he denied using them under oath to Congress.
What an embarassment to baseball.
"Baltimore Orioles first baseman Rafael Palmeiro, who testified before Congress on March 17 that he'd never used steroids, was suspended by Commissioner Bud Selig on Monday for 10 games for violating baseball's drug policy."
Palmeiro's statement: "Good morning, Mr. Chairman and members of the committee. My name is Rafael Palmeiro and I am a professional baseball player. I'll be brief in my remarks today. Let me start by telling you this: I have never used steroids. Period. I don't know how to say it any more clearly than that. Never. The reference to me in Mr. Canseco's book is absolutely false. I am against the use of steroids. I don't think athletes should use steroids and I don't think our kids should use them. That point of view is one, unfortunately, that is not shared by our former colleague, Jose Canseco. Mr. Canseco is an unashamed advocate for increased steroid use by all athletes."
BTW I am in no way an apologist for this guy, I couldn't care less about him personally, I just know the media hasn't much of a clue when it comes to some issues, like steroids.
WBAL is reading a statement from him now. He claims he did not "knowingly" take a band substance.
You make take that with as many grains of salt as you'd like.
His defense will be "But oxymegacyclinobol is NOT a steroid, it merely enhances ones own testosteron production, naturally..."..
