MLB will supposedly announce this afternoon.
Jason Giami?
Some will be protected.
Well, Canseco was partially right. But he stretched a lot of things, to say the least.
One problem is that his book suffers from mistakes where he should have known better. For example, he describes in vivid detail Game 6 of the 2000 World Series. But the Yankees won that Series in 5 games.
What an embarassment to baseball.
I'm listening to the O's game on WBAL (Baltimore) and they said USA Today is also reporting the story. His suspension is expected to be announced today. He's not in the line up today either.
For baseball, yes, but whatever hurts th Baltimreo club is a good thing, given their corrupt, America-hating, anti-fan owner.
Yes, I certainly admire him for that.
"Baltimore Orioles first baseman Rafael Palmeiro, who testified before Congress on March 17 that he'd never used steroids, was suspended by Commissioner Bud Selig on Monday for 10 games for violating baseball's drug policy."
Sosa.
you beat me to it! was just going to post that ad :)
I have been on the Ticket, but Norm is talking about everything BUT this..
How long ago did they find out?
Palmeiro's statement: "Good morning, Mr. Chairman and members of the committee. My name is Rafael Palmeiro and I am a professional baseball player. I'll be brief in my remarks today. Let me start by telling you this: I have never used steroids. Period. I don't know how to say it any more clearly than that. Never. The reference to me in Mr. Canseco's book is absolutely false. I am against the use of steroids. I don't think athletes should use steroids and I don't think our kids should use them. That point of view is one, unfortunately, that is not shared by our former colleague, Jose Canseco. Mr. Canseco is an unashamed advocate for increased steroid use by all athletes."
I don't know much about Angelos, but I do know he's a sleazy lawyer (apologize for redundancy) of some kind.
Raffy was always one of The Hardline's favorites after Rusty Greer, of course...
They are gonna take this very hard...
Suspended 10 games, per Norm, for violation of MLBs drug policy...
Oh, goody, Mickey Spagnola just joked that he was found positive of taking Viagra....right!
Could he say that he took the 'roids are the committee hearing?
Translation....
"I want you to listen to me. I'm going to say this again. I did not have convivial relations with that Androgen, Testosterone. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time-never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American pastime."
Columnist Skip Bayless now talking about this issue on the Jim Rome show. http://www.xtrasportsradio.com/streaming.html
Guess he decided to give it a try after St. Patrick's day.
Or maybe he's just been innocently using some of Bary Bonds' leftover "flaxseed oil".
BTW I am in no way an apologist for this guy, I couldn't care less about him personally, I just know the media hasn't much of a clue when it comes to some issues, like steroids.
