Here's a trick somebody taught me about the red "x".

Right click on the red x
At the bottom of the menu is "properties" click on that
Block and copy the URL address
Place the URL in the address window
When you press "enter" the picture should appear
Then you press and "back" key and the picture should be on the thread.
It works every time I try it.
