Seriously, you're worse off then the jumper.

I don't see how you can have any sympathy for this person. This person created a situation that provided major headaches for thousands of commuters and travelers, because with him/her, it's all about ME, ME, ME! The only way I could excuse this person's actions is if he is schizophrenic and a voice told him to jump from that particular bridge. Perhaps 24 hours in lockup will put things into perspective for him.

I can have sympathy for this person, because I too have been in a position where I wanted to end it all.

24 hours in lockup? How about 72 hour psyche evaluation. Wanting to kill yourself is not a choice that a rational person would make. Think of all the things that would have to go wrong in your life in order for you to want to make that choice. Pretty crappy, eh? And now you've got people urging you to jump.

I bet you don't even understand what schizophrenia is, but you toss it out like it's an understandable excuse. More than likely the guy is suffering from severe depression, or maybe even a manic depression. Clue yourself into what you're talking about.

By 2010, the World Health Organization predicts that more time will be lost from work because of depression and depression-related maladies than will be lost by colds or flus. This type of stuff is going to be more common place than we realize.

Hopefully you'll never go through it. Most likely a loved one of yours will at some point in their life. I hope you have more sympathy and compassion then.
