An 8-week-old Jack Russell terrier mix puppy is recovering after he was found tortured and abandoned next to a dumpster in Pueblo.
The puppy appears to have cigarette burns on his body and was spray-painted when he was found behind a convenience store along Highway 50.
A store employee found the puppy and called Pueblo Animal Services, which treated his injuries.
"His wounds seem to be healing and he's eating better all the time so we're hoping another week or so and he'll be ready to go," veterinarian Keith Lorensen told KOAA-TV.
The dog has been named "Trooper" by animal services workers.
The investigation into the dog's abuse is continuing.
Aaawwwww I can't even imagine. Now I reeealllllly want the scums tortured!!
I have a JRT too.
She is one of the calmer ones unless there is a lizard, snake or frog around. Then she goes into her own little zone.
Best dog we have ever owned.
Yeah, torturing a puppy is messed up, aint gonna get you no where with the chicks.
You're right. It's Skip :)
I remember that movie because I cried like a little girl.
I can't understand people who dump their dogs at the pound or humane society. I recently adopted two very well-behaved doggies whose previous owners found them inconvenient. So if those people tick me off, I can barely control my anger at reading stories like this one.
