I recall the advice my Dad gave to people who would ask him about buying a boat. My dad was a terrific sailor, enlisted in the Navy, served four years on a carrier, loved everything about the "high seas". But when it came to boating, and he did own some beautiful sailing vessels, he always gave the same advice to people seeking his input on buying a boat and sailing: "Stand in your shower and tear up $100 dollar bills. Boat ownership is like that - it is very expensive and you get wet - basically, end of story." The rest was up to them to decide. Is horse/pony ownership somehow condensed into something like this?? Could be, but in the end, it's up to YOU to decide.

It's exactly like that. Only stand in the middle of a manure pile and tear up $100 dollar bills. It's very expensive and you're bound to get dirty. :-p If you do it, you have to WANT to do it. Maybe we horse people should take up boating... at least we'd get clean again!
