forced sex by an "ex-boyfriend", "date rape", "marriage rape" and the like are lesser "sexual assault" crimes. unwanted sex with a known and chosen companion, while wrong and illegal are not the same crime as physical sexual attack by an unknown assailant. The latter crime is the only one deserving the name, rape and the harshest punishment available. A rape victim would never cut off the assailant's penis but might physically injure an assailant defending herself. A rape victim, would escape the scene as soon as it was humanly possible to do so after defending herself to the best of her ability. there is no more violent crime short of death than rape.
Even so, we cannot legally accept a victim's premeditated attempt to exact revenge on the perpetrator, even though it would be understandable, and warranted.
