McGowan said he hopes for a flood of donations to help keep the faucet flowing, He wants donations to pay him to do what he is protesting against?

The House Gallery is currently responsible for paying the water bill and has stood behind McGowan's artistic endeavors. Even so, they can't afford to pay for the tiny cascade that wastes about 9,200 gallons a day. I hope so whereupon Thames can SHUT HIS WATER OFF

The gushing faucet is an expensive exhibition that could waste about 3.9 million gallons of water. It could also land McGowan in a legal battle with Thames Water, the utility company. The circular sink has already swallowed about 193,000 gallons of water during a season declared the driest in London since 1976. Maybe Thames can figure a way to capture his sewer output and recycle it back to his faucet.... naw that would be too mean.....

Wonder what kind of artistic creation I could make to protest worthless artistic creations.

The project has outraged Thames Water, which said it could cost about $23,320 if the faucet runs for 365 days. I assume that Londoners have water meters connected to their taps. If he pays for the water, then it is his to do with as he pleases.

Its funny, growing up on a farm with a well and a septic, you learned early not to run the water when you didn't have to.
When my father remarried and she came with 3 boys(who had lived in the city) I was appalled at their water waste. Turn on the shower, fart around the house for 10 minutes before getting in. 30 minute showers, Run the water the entire time brushing their teeth, leave the hose running while laying on the ground while washing the car(spray nozzle in locked on position).
About a month after they moved in the well dried up. It got really fetid just prior, smelled like something died coming out of the faucet. After a suitable recovery period and draconian water restrictions set down by my father, the well recovered. Several years on, after they moved in with their wives, they complained to me the same behavior.
Far as I can tell city dwellers use a disproportionate amount of water.
