Well, there goes that theory. It still might lead to something though. Knowing Voldie's mind whose murders would he like to commemerate by using it to become an horcrux. Definitely his father. Maybe the Potters including Harry. Maybe Moaning Myrtle, although he did not directly kill her, but had the basilisk do it. I don't know if that counts. When did he have all of them done? I would think after looking back that they were all set up so the Potters would be the last. That is he would have had the six done by the time he was defeated so probably not the Potters. I'm rambling here.
On the scores of murders that VM has committed, that could be like the millions of murders that Hitler or Stalin committed. Not personally, but at their command, just a thought.

I don't think your theory is wrong. I definitely believe that VM's horcruxes were created after particularly meaningful murders--in fact, I think that Nagini became a horcrux after the murder of Bertha Jorkins, rather than the later, almost meaningless death of the old caretaker. I have the feeling the creation of each horcrux will be spelled out in the next book...at least, that's my hope, among other things!
