IIRC--I read HBP a little too fast, perhaps--the only remaining relic of Griffendor's is his sword, in the Headmaster's office. DD supposed that Voldemort was interested in a position at Hogwarts so he could have a shot at the sword, but it did not come to pass.

I also thought that Voldemort wanted to come back to hide something in the room of requirement where Harry hid his potions book, maybe he wanted to move something out of it. He may have made a horcrux while he was still in school.

But how could he have enchanted it in the first place? Ah me... isnt this fun :) Kreacher knows what the items are, or at least some of them, and shall we guess that they are in his "space" at Grimauld Place?

I will go with Petunia being a squib, that makes a whole bunch of sense to me. I started rereading the books to be up to snuff when this one came out, She is too aware of the wizarding world, for all her hatred of it, not to be a squib...

About the last remaining relic being the sword--you're right! I read someone today venturing that when Tom Riddle controlled Ginny in CoS, and said he "poured his soul" into her, he made her a horcrux. I have always thought that the Weasly's must be some distant relative of Gryffindor becuase of the red hair (everyone comments on it), their very strong bravery and loyalty, and in the PoA movie (which Rowling consulted on), Ron takes the candy and makes a lion roar (remember, Neville makes the elephant noise, and Harry sounds like a train). So, if this was true, Ginny would be a remnany of the Gryffindor bloodline, wouldn't she? And how awful for Harry to have to kill her, or at least consider the option!
