Even before the E! website falsely reported that Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson had filed for divorce, the "Newlyweds" were on damage control about the status of their relationship. And despite the fact that they constantly try to assure the public that their marriage is solid, those who witness them together always seem to say otherwise. An attendee at Jessica's 25th birthday party last week told the New York Daily News about the couple's interactions with each other - "Nick and Jessica weren't even speaking. In fact, they didn't even arrive together - he met her there. Then, when she was blowing out the candles on her cake, he was in the back with his friends, like he didn't care." Turns out the party was a bust in more than one way. Jessica didn't like her gifts and was seen exchanging huge amounts of swag at an LA mall days later. (By Kate Lanahan)

She's a Republican and campaigned for Bush in last year's election. She's pretty smart in my book, especially compared to most of her hollywood peers.

She usually looks pretty in photos, but I think it's done with computers. Waiting at the hairdressers' yesterday, I saw some pictures of her in a "high-end" fashion magazine, and without makeup, big hair, and glamour filtering, she looked more like Medea Benjamin than any human being should have to.
