"It's fast," said one developer source of Mac OS X running on Intel's Pentium processors. "Faster than [Mac OS X] on my Dual 2GHz Power Mac G5." In addition to booting Windows XP at blazing speeds, the included version of Mac OS X for Intel takes "as little as 10 seconds" to boot to the Desktop from when the Apple logo first displays on screen.

Also, they don't mention the hard drive. How much you wanna bet it's got a top notch drive, if not a 10000 rpm raptor in it?(drool) Your computer is only as good as the weakest link, the bottleneck. Yes, naturally the proc, ram, mobo, etc all have their play................. But that HD is gonna generally give you your best performance boost in most instances.
This is my favorite part.
After hearing for years how superior Mac hardware is to PC hardware, all of a sudden they're going to be running the same hardware they spoke ill about for years.
WHOA it boots fast! Who da thunk it! The more I think about this article, the more I think that it's just Jobs' way of letting his fans know that he finally came up the 3 gig processor that he promised some time ago. AND IT BOOTS FAST! Did I mention that IT BOOTS FAST? Heck there's mid range AMD chips out there that boot faster, and they don't even use a front side bus. Dells boot fast too, with the same hardware! I'm waiting for some comparison benchmarks...not some spoon feeding of the Apple community.
Heh heh.... it sure is ironic.
lol......
I won't be surprised if the intel mac is 80% faster than any other intel machine around.(when the benches arise)
That is..... according to Apple.
:-P
