WASHINGTON The graffiti artist known as Borf has been busted. The Washington Post reports 'Borf' was arrested by D-C police yesterday. Police identify 'Borf' as an 18-year-old art student from Great Falls named John Tsombikos (zomm-BEE'-kohs).
He and two other young men were arrested early yesterday after police got a tip that graffiti artists were spray painting in Northwest Washington.
Some of the graffiti 'Borf' is believed responsible for includes a five-foot-high face that appears on a Roosevelt Bridge sign and a 15-foot Borf above a Dupont Circle cafe.
Tsombikos' mother says 'Borf' was the nickname of a close friend of her son's who committed suicide about two years ago.
A D-C Public Works spokesman says citizens are "ecstatic" about 'Borf' being caught.
Where is the BORF ALERT?
Maybe he should be permanently painted cadaver greenish.
Vandal.
Can't say that I find his work 'Art'. Looks more like defacing someone's property. I can truly say that if it was our property I would be really PO'd.
