I had worked with Waylon a few weeks ago for the whole weekend and he was fine. ....walked right into the trailer to go home from the cabin. The next weekend he walked right into the trailer to go down to the cabin, On the return trip it took him about 10 minutes to get in. I guess he realizes he is going for a two hour ride and doesn't like that. I will work with him again this coming week, just going in and out ....any other suggestions?
I think the biggest thing I did different this time is that when I asked him to go in, I let him go as far as he would without me putting any more pressure on him, then I'd let him stand there quietly a minute or so, then made him back out and start over. The next time he'd to just a little bit farther in. And I was always careful to end the session on a success. I'd read about this method for a long time, but I just couldn't seem to keep myself from pushing for just a little bit more, and it was a destructive thing to do. You know what they say about knowing when to stop digging when you get to the bottom. I finally decided that the way I was doing it wasn't working and that I'd back off and try something different and it worked. :o)
