I think we have the same problem. All this summer we have had lots of storms and then rain in the evenings, and now the rivers and ponds etc are so swollen. As for boats, I have already done the shop this week so do you want to borrow mine? : ) LOL

Thanks, we are fine. This afternoon I got a call from a relative that lives near Bay St Louis, MS. He and his family evacuated to Birmingham. Their home was only a few blocks from the coast but he thinks it is gone now.

How sad for your family but at least they are safe.

That happened to me once. I was so scared. I stayed in a mobile home too long and when I decide to get out I couldn't. I actually saw what a house "breathing" meant. The noise was so loud and I felt like I couldn't breath.

That yellow area in North East Ohio is me. It has been raining all day, steady. Now, it is coming down really hard. Flood warnings are out now. It has been pretty dry, and we needed the rain. Once this passes, it's suppose to be nice all weekend. We are planing on leaving Thursday afternoon to go camping and trail riding. The Arabian was shod tonight, for the first time.

Well i dont think it was a tornado, although we had warnings...but all of a sudden the wind got up real bad, and large heavy things were being blown all over the place . I didnt wait to see what was going to happen, i grabbed the kids and we headed for the bathroom. When it got quiet I went and checked everything and was surprised at how much stuff had been moved. All of the animals were ok. : ) Pretty scary.

I never went into the area - just looked in to see where the door lead :) I don't like spiders and snakes particularly.

Well, we had a wonderful ride, felt good to get out! Was a grey overcast day, and it was cool and dark in the woods, and a little damp from recent rain. Made for a little mud, but it was a nice break from eating dust :~D

Mossy rain forest trees :~D

Recent trail work on trail 10. They have it groomed so nicely I wouldn't be surprised if they lined it with spring bulbs!

Bear damaged trees, we think.... Look forward to confirmation of that from the bear hunters, like my Dad, and Lisa.

More:

Stopping to rest awhile at the falls... :~D

Here I am in the river, and ecurbh is following along from up on top. Bay is worrying that he's going to be left behind.

Now he's coming to join me in the river...

Or is he? Missed approach, go around...

Success and cooperation! :~D

Ahh.....

Oh - and a couple short movies for those with broadband and/or patience! Remember, to play them best, especially with slow connections, Right click the link and choose 'save target as' to save it to your desktop.

First is on trail... going down trail a bit and then turning around to see ecurbh wondering what I am up to ;~D

And here's one crossing a metal bridge... turn your sound up loud to hear what they sound like... the only thing that really gives the horses the willies when they are new at these bridges is how clanging loud they are, and they get louder the more horses there are and the further along it you go :~D

How did the shoeing go? We have flash flood warnings until tomorrow, and it's supposed to keep raining until thursday morning.

Hey, I love the videos! Thanks! Much improved job with the camera control too. It was a good idea to turn Bay while you were panning.

No problem at all. She just stood there. Fronts only. We thought she would do a park horse walk, being this was the first time, but she walked right off.

You keep an eye on the sky. There could be some tornado activity in your area. We had over 2 inches of rain. The wind picked up, but no damage.

There's very rarely any tornado activity here, and the tornados that we do get, are usually waterspouts or breakup before or just after they hit the ground. We do get microbursts now and again though. There was one in a city not to far from me a week or so ago.

Good morning.

Hair: looks like a good ride:)

MT: Was this the first time your horse was shoed? Did I miss that:)?

Beaker, Frog, Rose, Inge: Glad everyone is coming thru the weather OK. I told Mack last night, I don't believe I could handle living thru a mess like that. He'd find me sitting in a corner babbling and drooling on my self. I don't know how anyone could cope with that. Really makes me appreciate OK, humid temps and all.

Thanks... I wish I could make them longer, but the file sizes would become prohibitive.... But I did think turning Bay around to pan might make you a little less seasick than moving the camera. :~D

We'll probably hold off now since it's nearing the end of our trail riding season, but Cyn is starting to go around rocky spots in the trail if she can. I think she'll need shoes to do more riding next year, but she's held up remarkably well to have stayed sound ~this~ summer barefoot.

How much longer is you riding season? Do you have to stop because of the cold, or the wet?

I'm going with Jenny this morning to her doctors appointment. So instead of riding today, this afternoon when i get home I am going to work on lunging and straight line trotting. It's been along time since he lunged, and he was not that good at it then:). I may stop on the way home and get me a new lunge whip, the one I have is broke and too short to do much good with a reluctant lunger:).

We can ride up in Capital forest till I think, Nov 1. The trails close in winter due to mud and open (I think) April 1st. Tears up the trails to allow horses in there when it's really muddy. There is another place, Scatter Creek, that is open all winter, and stays solid because it's all on logging roads. We went there for our first trail ride with the trailer, if you can remember that. It gets awfully rainy though and sometimes I don't ride at all for winter. We've ~talked~ about maybe taking them up to Trails End, an indoor arena, to ride once a month or so this winter, we'll see :~D
