This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Poor guy.... Just Lightning yesterday, not the colts too?
I'd imagine it's worse for an adult than a baby :~D
Just Lightning, apparantly he did just great, the cost, including a yearly shot for tetnus was just $130. The colts are going to be done soon. : )
I will be on and off here all day, cause there are so many little jobs that need doing before we hit the road. My friend came over yesterday to see the set up and all she really needs to do is give the horses their pellets and feed the rabbits, all the other animals have huge 25lb feeders. : ) All the animals have auto waterers apart from the rabbits. Makes things easier!
I am draining and refilling the hot tub right now, cause she said they would be over here relaxing in it as many times as they can! : )
Sounds good!
We'll be puttering around and cleaning the house for company today, have a friend visiting tomorrow.
Well DARN! Wonder how that happened? Can it be fixed, or are you gonna have to have a new saddle?
Never mind, I saw your answer to Hair. I should know better than to reply to an old post without reading to the end first.
I've been watching the track of Hurricane Emily and they're predicting it to hit around Brownsville. Doesn't somebody on here live there?
Oh how nice, you are going on a trail ride. It looks like a pretty nice outfit, from looking at their web site. Have fun!
I think Cindydawg does, or close to it. She is heading out to see her horses this weekend.
I didn't think that they were going to geld Lightening? (I hope that this vet didn't fead the poor guys manly parts to his dog!) :-)
uh... Lightning, rather.
Yeah we are keeping a watch and preparing just in case. I'll be back here Sunday.
Well, y'all be safe! Be prepared to load the horses up and skeedaddle if it looks like it's coming your way!
Thanks. Unless it turns towrds Houston the horses are out of it though. I moved them about a month ago. If we get a direct hit that's a good thing.
I don't think they originally intended to, but then he had a studly moment one day when he was riding him and dumped the guy. Amazing how something like that'll change your mind ain't it? ;o) I wasn't originally going to geld Bob either, but when he thought with his testicles one too many times, I decided they had to go. Best decision I ever made. He's SO much calmer now.
STX recipe?? What's that?
South Texas. Right up there with SIL:')
LOL! I ain't the sharpest knife in the box am I!
I like the taste of jalapeno cornbread, but I just can't take the heat. If I eat it, I gotta have a big glass of milk to kill the fire.
Hey, I read sister in law too lol.
So are you going up to ride the horses this weekend?
