This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Well if I'm going to make it by 7 in the morning, I've got to turn in. Catch you all in the morning. Have a nice ride tomorrow Frog.
Becky
Yeah, the Atlanta metro area is the same way. I've seen for sale signs over there advertising 8 acres for $800,000. Too rich for me!
"LOL! I was beginning to wonder if we were talking to Ivana "Tuffydoodle" Trump here."
Ivana with the Texas accent.
If I had the money that Ivana has, I'd be living in the middle of five thousand acres somewhere with an indoor air conditioned arena. I sure as heck wouldn't be living just outside Dallas/Fort Worth.
I'm turning in too. Gotta get up by 5. You have a good one too! See y'all.
Yup, land values near the big cities are extremely high. Doesn't Atlanta have the busiest airport in the country?
Good night, ladies. Have fun tomorrow.
We're back - right at dark ;~D
Gotta go put horses to bed and then will be taking a look at the pics :~D
I'm back. Can't sleep. I took a nap this afternoon. I'll have to play a little solitaire and get sleepy.
So how'd it go? did you finish?
Becky
We finished... man was it a long ride! The last five miles were rough... for us! The horses weren't complaining, they did great.
15 miles is long. How long did it take you?
Becky
Well, we probably left camp about 2:00 - got back in 8:30 or so... it was slow stopping to put up the signs, and we stopped to rest a few times.
Pics are uploading now :~D
This is my landlord, Dick. He's the one I bought Bay from... He bought Bay from the endurance racer, who bought Bay from Bob, who'll you'll meet in a minute :~D.
This is his Appy Dan. He and the other lady you'll see in a couple pics were marking the 8 mile trail. We rode with them till our paths split. Dick and Dan actually had a wreck early on the ride. They were trying to put up a sign and Dan got his feet caught and spooked and fell down. He layed right on Dick's leg. Dick got on and kept going but it was hurtin'... I'm sure he's feeling it tonight.
Bob is in front of me here.... I'll get a better pic of him in a minute :~D
Bruce and Cyn did the best putting signs up, she'd park and stand still, unlike Bay, who fidgits.
Riding through some young timber:
And tall timber:
More pics in a minute :~D
Crossing a bridge:
And another bridge:
I think this is looking off the second bridge:
Here's a pic of Bob and Kai at a rest stop.
More bridges...
One more set to come :~D
Riding through some of the clearcut areas:
And one more.... putting up trail markers toward the end :~D
[hope this wasn't too many pictures]
I love the fern behind the sign Bruce is hanging. so pretty. And I noticed Cyn is wearing saddle bags. Didn't bother her, bet.
Becky
That is a cool picture of Bruce and Cyn going under the vine maple. That would be cool to have over your driveway.
Sure looks like a big ole horse Bob is on. Is it just the picture or does he have an enormous head:)
Becky
He's enormous... not tall, Bay's taller, but just massive body. He's got a face only his mother and Bob could love, but he's strong!
Was the picture taken crooked on the 2nd to last picture, or was that the incline. Looks like you did do some climbing. Nice bridges. I wish I had some of those to practice on.
Beautiful country. I love the differnt foliage. You've got a lot of different stuff all together that looks so pretty.
Bay's ears looks like he was pretty alert the whole time:)
Becky
Nope, ain't nothing bothers her. Man, I just love that horse. She was perfectly willing to just park next to a signpost while I stapled the signs... although it helped if there were some ferns in reach to nibble on while she waited.
Well, I am ~very~ tired and ~very~ sore... gonna hit the couch now. Good night!
