The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

You can't get him to do anything... You know parents... It's like getting your parents to move out of the path of a hurricane ;~D

It's not the kind of pain from a heart attack, and it's been going on a few days. He probably pulled something, but who knows.

Ah ha! I see :~D

I designed a barn with the house attached.... two of them actually, one was an upstairs loft kind of thing that could look down on the arena.... one was at one end.

Did you look in the office? How many computers does one person need to run simultaneously? Look at those monitors!

I didn't notice. I think the dog house on the roof is cute though.

Boy, that stock tank is just about gone. Pretty soon, it'll look like Nevada :)

Seriously - hoping for rain for you soon.

That is such a cool house. Can't you make it a guest house or something instead of tearing it down?

The phone booth immediately brings to mind Dr. Who - I would love to have that in my yard (or house) :)

I was terrified of Dr Who as a kid!
as for book shops and antique stores, I am right there with you! I love antiques and had mine shipped over. I haev two beautiful victorian writting slopes, one is mahogany, and the other is oak with mother of pearl inlay. I also brought over many chest of drawers etc. I will keep them for the children to have when they marry. : )

I hang out at antique stores and thrift shops on my lunch hour :) Bob only stops and shops at feed and tack stores.

Oh, that's wonderful that you were able to keep your antiques.

My son used to watch Dr Who and I have to admit to watching along with him :)

Speaking of books, ya'll oughta see the book list my 16 year old daughter brought home. She has to pick a book to do a report on and the list is a might grown-up, imo. They are all downers, a list obviously chosen by liberals. A sampling of the books I've read or seen movies. Oh, and she said if you chose a book off the list, it has to be about "typical American culture."

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
The Lovely Bones
Fight Club
Bastard Out of Carolina
The World According to Garp
The Cider House Rules
Where The Heart Is
A Thousand Acres
Cold Mountain
Fried Green Tomatoes
The Handmaid's Tale
The Joy Luck Club
Sophie's Choice
Deliverance

There are a few good, more age appropriate books on the list:

The Red Badge of Courage
On The Road
Housekeeping
Uncle Tom's Cabin
The Age of Innocence
The Bell Jar
The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter
A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court
Puddinhead Wilson
The Catcher in the Rye

We picked out a book not on the list, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

Eddie a little more liberal. In addition to the feed/tack, he goes to Home Depot
