This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Glad it's working out well . . . and glad the Short People's Mounting Method worked for you.
Becky, we got a john deere tractor for jacob when he was two, thats was 4 years ago and it's doing just great for tommy! They love it. The only problem with our one is that it is all metal, therefore heavy. Our boys have been on ones just like you got at the JD store and loved them....in fact had to be prised off them! : )
Thanks. It's comfortable.
It does take some practice to hit those little orange targets, but it is a lot of fun. Three years ago, I did win at the Grand in the ladies handicap. Broke 98 out of a 100. That was my best score ever, but, have not been able to break them all. Best I could do this year was a 92 & 90. But, I did win $30!
Huh. You think sometimes one starts something and spooks the others? I've seen this around the stables here.
Yall look good together. It's hot and humid here too.
Airport expansion, pork, politics, homeland security, anti-gun mayor, take your pick. Lots of reasons. The Amateur Trap Shooting Assoc. only owned about 60 acres. The trap was over a mile long, and was on airport property, as was the parking and some of the camping area. The people and businesses of Dayton, Vandalia, and surrounding areas will feel the loss. The Hall of Fame, Museum and many permanent vendor buildings will be lost, as the land was sold. It was getting rather crowed, and they needed to expand, but it's too bad, the airport didn't move..:)
Well you ~look~ comfortable! :~D And did you feel good in it today?
I think Bay also has the Orange gullet in his, it looks familiar.
We're back from the trail ride, I'm all caught up on the thread and Madonna I think, just having a cool drink before I change into some shorts and wash my face... and then I'll load up some pictures... and maybe movies, if they came out OK ;~D
waiting for pics! : )
I'm headed to church and then the stables. I'm riding my bike to church but coming back for my car. We measured it and 14 miles to ride a bike to the stables a little far! Later.
Oh, my grandson would love that :) I'll have to see if I can find one here. It is so neat.
Sounds like a good plan, as for riding the bike, it is so hot here I wouldnt even want to ride one mile! Give me my stationary one in air conditioning~ : )
If it feels good, it will probably be just as safe - the only thing a western would give you is a horn and you still can grab the front of that saddle if necessary. Looks like it might be easier to bail out of :)
I think it was something in the air. At the time I thought maybe an earthquake coming but now wonder if maybe a high pitched noise coming from the Top Gun Base there. All in all very weird.
It is too bad, it sounds like it will have a negative economic impact on the area.
Oh Rose, that is great news. :)
Was it just your horses that were acting nutty, or was it other horses as well? (I take it that you were at a show?)
I know!~ I knew we had built a pretty place, but never thought we would have this much response! Only 2 days with signs out! It doesnt even go in the local paper till Tuesday!
I know the house we live in is a lot bigger, so will need a different income brackett, but i think housing around here is in short supply so please pray that when we have done a little more work on this one, (trim!), we will sell it as easily! : )
