This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Gosh.... I sure hope she can find out and make the unexpected falls stop happening.... those are dangerous, as I'm sure you and she knows.
This growing old thing doesn't sound like much fun.
Will watch indeed.
We're going on a trail ride today.... and we better get going before it gets too hot to want to start.
Have a great time. :) Take pictures :)
You know I will take pictures, I'm reliable that way at least!
We are going on one trail segment that will be new, but I don't know if there will be anything different about it, from a picture point of view... probably just more trees and ferns ;~D
It doesn't have to be new, the pictures are gorgeous anyway. And to someone who doesn't have trees and ferns, they are very appreciated.
Glad to hear it! I like taking pictures, you know, but I hate to be a bore....
I was away for a few days too. I went to the last Grand American trap shoot in Vandalia, Ohio. The Dayton International Airport did not renew the lease. After being held there for 81 years. It was very sad to see it end. Ohio stands to lose 12-15 million from the Grand and the Ohio State shoot. The Grand will be held in Sparta, Ill from now on, at the World Shooting Complex being built. I shot pretty good, but not good enough to win there. It's like the Super Bowl of trapshooting. A friend took some pics of me shooting.
On the way home yesterday, a car passed me that was from Nevada. I was wondering if they felt the same way, and thought of you. :')
LOL,
We definitly need a new keyboard for the webTV, but witht the computer it was just setting the wireless remote after putting in new batteries. We weren't holding our mouth right, we got it now:)
It's very hot and humid right now, I will ride this evening. Mack is going to put the new gullet in and we bought a black leather dog leash and he is going to construct me a breastplate:)
Becky
I could just be allergies. Take her temp. If she has no temp, it's probably just soemthing in the the air.
IMO:)
Beccky
It is sad to see places like that close down. Glad you were there to take part in it.
Well, we're finally off, we had to fart around mixing and matching pieces of old bridles to piece one together for Cyn. She stepped on the reins last ride and broke her bridle. We managed to tie a knot in it and get her home, but need to get her a nice new one soon. :~D
Well, talk nice to your connection today, so you can have Mack take a bunch of pictures when you ride tonight!
LOL:)
Becky
I love your new bike. when I've got one like the first one, but would much rather have had one like this. Where did you get it?
Becky
I'm sorry about your mother, hope everything works out.
Becky
That you can shoot and hit one of those things at all is impressive, let alone be in a tournament:)
Good for you.
Becky
Congratulations to Tuffy (and you:')
Thanks. I got it at Walmart.
More fun Madonna horse stuff. This one makes her look even dumber. They put the horse in hiding after she fell off?? What for? She was afraid since the great Madonna fell off that someone would kill the horse? She certainly has a high opinion of herself. I would bet the farm that the accident wasn't the horse's fault.
From the Sunday Mirror Exclusive by Stewart Maclean:
Smiling through the pain with her arm in a sling, Madonna yesterday made her first appearance since her horrific horse fall.
The singer - wearing a tracksuit and baseball cap - was determined to show the world she is back on her feet after breaking three ribs, her hand and collarbone last week.
She put on a brave face as she left the Kabbalah Centre, base of the religious sect to which she belongs, in Central London with husband Guy Ritchie at 1.30pm. A waiting fan said: 'Its not like Madge to sulk around in bed. Shes now acquired that country-girl stiff upper lip and went out of her way to act as though nothing had happened.'
Meanwhile the horse which threw her was in hiding last night - after Madonna had sent an SOS from her hospital bed to save it.
The Queen of Pop, thrown by the thoroughbred bay mare during her 47th birthday celebrations on Tuesday, was so worried the incident would give the animal a bad reputation she ordered neighbours to rush it into hiding away from her Wiltshire estate.
Una Harley, who lives next to Madonnas £9million country pile said: 'She knows the horse was not to blame for what happened to her. It was an accident, pure and simple. It can be terrible when a horse gets an ill-deserved reputation for being trouble - so she sent a message that nobody was to reveal its name.'
'The people who own it got it scurried away into stables and everyone in our community knows never to tell anyone what it was called.'
Una, 66, who runs a stables in the village, added: 'Its delightful she has shown such concern for the poor horse, and it shows what a lovely person she is.'
'Animals like these can be worth up to £500,000 - and although there may be some value in being the horse that Madonna fell off, if it got a reputation for being a danger its value could plummet.'
