The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I'm not wild about bike riding but I do like to walk. It's fun to have someone to go walking with, though. Hopefully, I'll meet some nice moms at the kids new school. I think bike riding to work is awesome! That'll get you in shape in a hurry, not to mention saving on gas.

Crystal's has been gone for a long time, unfortunately. They had the best pizza in the world, imo.

Her eye looks healthy, she's not holding it halfway closed, so it's probably not a foreign object in there. Does she have allergies? Has she been rubbing it?

The white of the eye is a little red too, but otherwise it looks fine, not running, and it doesn't look like she's particularly bothered by it.

I've seen green gunk before, but not white.

Walking ok, but it takes too long. If I'm out hiking, it's fun though.

Huh. I don't know what that is. I'd keep a watch on it.

Check this out, about Madonna.

"Last night a source close to the injured star told us: "While Madonna has put on a brave face, the truth is she has been in a lot of pain.

"She has always controlled every facet of her life. But this accident, on her 47th birthday, has jolted her about her own mortality.

"That's why she felt she needed to go to the Kabbalah Centre."

Madonna had been celebrating her birthday at her Ashcombe House estate in Wiltshire when she was thrown from her horse on Tuesday.

Her mount—a birthday present from film director husband Guy Ritchie—was delivered to the couple's mansion just hours before the accident.

Madonna suffered three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a fractured hand when the horse stumbled.

On Wednesday, she and Guy, 36, flew from their estate by helicopter to Paris for a function planned months ago. Ironically on their visit they were spotted admiring dressage horses.

They flew back to the UK on Thursday and went with their children Rocco, five, and Lourdes, eight, to their £10 million London home.

Madonna would have spent her Kabbalah sessions, chanting and meditating. She is also likely to have drunk "special" healing water.

The Kabbalah Centre says it is treated by a Kabbalistic process, using blessings and meditations.

An undercover BBC investigation earlier this year revealed the water comes from a Canadian bottling plant."

Stumbled, my ass. She got major bucked off. Maybe hubby is trying to kill her. I wonder if she's mad at him for buying her a horse that bucks?

Sarah Lee tends to keep gunky lower eye lids and tear. I've tries clear drops, and ointments but I've notived that just putting fly spray on a wipe and witping her face keeps it down. I thought it was allergies but I'm thinking now maybe from flies.

Why did the horse buck or stumble though?

Well, she's weird, but I still feel badly that the fall went that badly. I feel bad for the husband, (unless he's trying to kill her ;~D)

I mean, it'd be awful for him to buy her the horse and have it go so wrong. But I bet in their excitement they just pushed it. The horse arrived in a new place, people were all excited, and she rides and falls a few hours later. The horse should have been given a day or two to settle in and she should have done some ground work to help settle him and learn a little about his temperament before just jumping on. Particularly at her level of riding.

Nobody's coming clean with the real story.

If you do FR search with "madonna" there is a thead about her being "banged up". The comments are hilarious.

Yeah, but Hair, this is MADONNA. She's omnipotent, doncha know. I think the horse reminded her that animals don't care who you are or how much money you have.

I'll pass thanks. I hate to see anyone take a fall and get hurt but I'm not a fan either. I was just commenting that it isn't always the horse. He had been there what, two hours? How old was he? what was her experience? That kind of stuff. Just because he was expensive doesn't make him immediately ridable IMO.

Horse's don't give a rip about your ego, or the size of your checkbook. They are great at humbling the cocky, that's for sure! :~D

Madonna is an idiot. Not for falling off her horse, but for well... everything else. Seriously. The woman is a loon.

They had just been in Paris looking a dressage horses. My best guess is that they looked at the awesomely trained dressage horses, bought a 17h upper level horse thinking that anyone could get on and make him do the same stuff he'd been doing with a professional rider, hubby surprises skank with horse on her birthday and she climbs on, without letting the horse get used to new people, surroundings, etc.

Do you think she stood up after that buck off and said to the horse, "Don't you know who I am????"
