The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Southern Calif. I'm guessing but it's probably 16-18 hours from here.

Heh! As a favor once I flew to a distance airport to pick up and bring a newlywed couple home from their honeymoon trip. Well, everything was great until we had a run-in with a small thunderstorm on the way back. After landing and parking the airplane, the bride kissed the ground lovingly and promised to never again leave it....... : )

"Ugh. I always thought that "turning green" was just a figure of speech until my first ferry ride."

I agree, had my experience with that too. : (

Was the engine running when it caught on fire?

The ferry was the Blue Nose. It was horrible. The boat pitched and rolled so much that nothing would stay on shelves or tables, swinging doors wouldn't stay shut, and it was a considerable effort just to get anywhere without falling down. After that we took the Scotia prince, which was also a cruise liner. That was much, much better and far more comfortable.

Isnt it strange how we change when we get older? I used to LOVE all the fairgound rides, upside down, spinning, didnt faze me one bit! I loved to do parascending, rock climbing, handgliding, windsailing.....now the thought of most of those turns my stomach, just riding up amd down the hills in the Ozarks made me queazy! LOL

Seems like it died and I tried to start it and it flamed. The workers pushed it off .

It has been said that you can go to the very front of the boat and look at the far horizon will help. Anyway, it seemed to work for me.

You are lucky that the fire did not do much damage. Onboard a ferry is a bad place to have an engine fire.

I am dreaming of a 15 ft bat wing mower......... : )?

Well, YEAH! I'd love to have one too, but those darned things cost as much as a car! And knowing me, I'd mow the fence down with it. You'd have to have a 40 acre field just to turn it around, but boy would you get through mowing in a hurry.
