This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Unless that thing gets wrapped around the propeller or a wing. Seems like a bad idea to me as too many things could go wrong. If you are flying in a severe storm and have to deploy the chute ... you and the plane could be sucked up several thousand feet aloft until you are a giant 30ft hailstone.
No thanks to parachutes for airplanes, IMHO!
: )
I had a 2 hr wait in the airport, 9 hr flight from the UK to Atlanta, 1 hr for customs, 2 hr trip to the house when i got here with a 7 year old and a 1 year old! It was exhausting and the kids were awake the entire flight! : )
All you need is some kids to look after and you'll forget about the flight! : )
LOL you probably get a few more prayers in too!~
I can canoe till the cows come home, in fact I love it. But open waters I can't do. We used to visit my grandfather up in Canada, and take the ferry from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth Nova Scotia. Ugh. I always thought that "turning green" was just a figure of speech until my first ferry ride.
I bet you are looking forward to seeing your son! What a wonderful present for Christmas! : )
I tell Eddie that but he just clutches his heart. I would like to do foster parenting.
Hehehe. That too. In between the screams of course.
He says all I need is a couple ok drinks and a dolly.

A friend of mine is over in Japan teaching English, and he's asked me to come for a visit, but I just can't do the plane ride. I get ill at the thought of it.
There is a cruise (grin) Russia way. It's expensive and you need a month off though.
Ferrys are ok but not been on one in quite a while.
Those things can move though. There is one that crosses the ship channel in Houston. Many years ago I was in Eddies old truck and the engine caught on fire. What a rush. That thing was hauling.
Yeah, I am. I haven't seen him since Oct. He's going to San Diego. He was going to Washington but they changed his orders.
"foster parenting" would be wonderful! Good luck if you decide to go that route! : )
As for cruises, I won a vacation on a cruise once and gave it away. Nothing on earth would make me go aboard one of those things! I travelled to France from Dover once on a ferry, was green all the way there, sick whilst there and ill all the way back. Next time i visited Europe I either went via the channel tunnel or by airplane! : )
I've heard of San Diego but dont have a clue where it is! Is it near you?
That stuff has never bothered me. Just open heights. I love roller coasters but get panic feelings riding cable cars.
Oh no. No Russian cruises for me. I don't even speak Russian. (or Japanese for that matter)
