The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well, I guess Cindy's horse days are over. She seems ok but she got kicked.

But now she's learned what she needed to learn about horses! ;~D

Yeah, I'm going to take her back and give it a try but she's real funny about stuff. She had been right with me but I had my granddaughter (the wild child) with me and watching her. I heard people yell and Cindy came running from the other side of the barn. My DIL said she saw her flying. Several people told me she got kicked in the mouth and one said her side. I think she got picked up instead of kicked though because nothing seems to hurt. She high tailed it to the car though and would not get out. I took Sarah Lee over there and she turned her head and wouldn't look at her.

Ah - well, I might limit myself to either dog or wild child, but not both at any given time :~D

We had a Kubota with a 5' mower, then as we had 6 horses we found we didnt need it and sold it. I am having to use a john deere 52"? ride on mower and I have been mowing the fields all afternoon, until I couldnt see my hand in front of my face it was so dark. I need more horses or my tractor back!
I like the sound of the 15' wing mower! : )

"If they ever put parachutes on um I might give it a try someday:')"

That is one of the last things you want. What if it accidently went off when nothing was wrong with the plane?

I would fly in one of the planes I posted pictures of but that is all. The pictures are of Taylorcraft BC12Ds and I think they were built in 1946.

You can crash when you get thrown or bucked off a horse too.
This is true, but airplanes are a lot higher up. I have extreme aversions to both airplanes and boats. :-p

I guess you turn off the key and enjoy the ride down:') I watched a documentary where they were experimentally putting them on small planes. Very cool but mega bucks.

Thanks! I have to use a 6ft or a 7ft mower now. Still takes several days in spare time to get everything mowed.

I have flown a lot but dont like the idea of a small plane.....flying on a commercial is like getting on a bus and then getting off again, going in a small plane sounds like a ride at the fair and I dont think my stomach could take that! : )
I made a mistake with the map in AR and we ended up having to cross a huge river by ferry, kids and deacoinjim loved it. Laughed at me, cause I went as green as could be. I dont do stuff like that well!

Thanks. There was a chiopractor there and he mentioned it looked like she hurt her hip. I told him, "are you kidding? She hasn't ran that good in a long time".

I hear the data about bigger planes safer but the little ones don't go as high and can find a place to land easier. I like just being high enough to see buildings and roads and stuff. I get ancy seeing colored blocks.

Yes, but if you are really up high you get to scream a lot longer on the way down.......... : )

Don't worry, most all landings are made with the engine running a little faster than idling.

Not liked boats ever since the movie "Jaws" came out.

I have been up in a hot air balloon! That was fun! Especially the crash landing and the counting of our bruises in the local pub!~ : D

I am so glad my son coming home in December. We were going to see him in Japan (don't know where we were gonna get the $$$) 12 hours in a plane. I would have been climbing the walls.

Now open, I can not do. The Tower of Americas in San Antonio probably 500 feet. I hugged the middle and it probably took me 15 minutes to get to the rails. I did it because I'm no chicken but I got back as fast as I could. I felt the platform was swaying.
