The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I did post a 4551, as a link to this one, and then I reported the thread so they'd lock it....

I don't know if it will post now that it's locked, it may be permanently lost out in the Twilight Zone :~D

LOL! Mowed a bunch the other day and broke the mower again. Another $70 worth of parts. At this rate we could have bought a new ride on already this year!
I still have one stretch that isnt mowed, and it will probably stay that way for two weeks now!
I do believe that lawn mowers (ride ons especially), weedeaters, and vaccuum cleaners should all be CHEAP and DISPOSABLE! LOL

Gads... How many? If you want to catch them until the ownership is found, food is better than herding. they may come round for hay, but if they've been grained at all, they'll follow a bucket. Just lead them in a pen and dump it on the ground.

Oh - and put them in a field with at least field fence... they won't stay in that tape.

Well that was easy! I took an (empty) feed bucket off the back of the golf cart that was parked by my van, whistled for my dogs, walked down the driveway, down our dirt road to our other house and at the back of that house is the gate that they must have worked open and got through. The dogs Sally and Benji did GREAT in keeping them in order and the cows followed me through into the field, no problem! I have secured the gate and am back here in about 20 mins?!!! Whew!
One thing i forgot to do...........note to self, wear shoes next time you walk that far! LOL LOL

Oh - I was picturing that you might not know where they came from and would have to keep 'em.

I had to do that once when I was farm sitting.... No idea who's cows they were.

Thank goodness I knew where they were from because I wouldnt have wanted to feed them all for any length of time! There are about 30 cows in the field behind us that joins the field that Sugar and Smokey are in now. They sleep under our 2 huge pecan trees. : ) I love to hear/see them as I am very fond of cows. My grandparents were dairy farmers and I learnt a lot from them! (the old fashioned way).

I went over to the County fair tonight, for a little bit. It has just been too hot, and stormy to go since Monday. My daughter was going to be riding this horse in Adult barrels tonight. When I left they were still on Walk-Trot Barrels, and still had 4 more classes to go, before she went in. It will probably be Midnight before she does. The girl who rides this paint, has won the Challenge Trophy in barrels for the last 2 years. If she wins tonight she can retire the trophy. The lady holding him, is a co-Advisor. She had 3 of her horses lose shoes today. Thought Tuffy and Cindy would enjoy the paints.

This poor girl, in my daughter's club had a slight accident with her horse. She was in a gaming class, had run it, but bumped the fence. She got mad at the horse and jerked him. He reared up, got his feet over the rail and she went off. One of his hooves scraped her head...ouch! She went to the hospital and came back later and ran more classes...crazy kids!...lol
